Milk Paint Project

I started with a pair of antique twin beds that had a stained finish. It took me a long time to build up the nerve to paint them but I finally gave in and I am thrilled with the results!

I was getting the room ready for my friend Beth Lewis of Olde Tyme Marketplace in Marshville, NC to come for a visit…it needed to be perfect and I was determined!

I used The Primitive Life Organic Milk Paint in the color “Skillet” and Howard’s wax to finish the project.

I wanted to use the colors red, black and white because I felt like they complimented a collection of old advertising signs I was going to hang above the bed. I have been collecting white signs with black letters for over 20 years!

A few more touches of red and black and our guest room was ready!

Before & After $30 Thrift Store Headboard !

bahead

I was lucky enough to find this King Sized headboard at the thrift store for $30! I used The Primitive Life Organic Milk Paint in “Skillet” and transformed it into this picture perfect headboard for our new bedroom!

It was very simple! First I cleaned the headboard with warm soap and water and a sponge, just to get any germs off, I sprayed with Lysol…then lightly sanded it with medium sandpaper, wiped it down and painted. It took about 15 minutes to paint. After I let it dry for a couple of hours, I sanded it lightly in areas where I wanted it to look “distressed”. That’s it! Total time about 3 hours. If
I can do it, anyone can!
